Cornhill Sydney serves trainees and churches in developing better preaching
and teaching of the Bible.
Cornhill Sydney runs a training course in preaching and teaching the bible.
The course is part-time (Monday and Tuesday mornings) over two years.
Join us at Cornhill Sydney in 2018
If you are
- thinking about a ministry apprenticeship or
- teaching the bible in other contexts or
- gearing up for a useful retirement or second phase of church ministry or
- maybe you just want to know the Bible better and grow in Christian maturity,
then Cornhill Sydney is for you.
We are currently accepting applications for our intake to the 2018 Course. As normal, the course is held:
- two mornings per week (Mon -Tues), four seven-week terms over two years,
- in rooms at Moore College, Newtown.
If you would like to apply for this course, or you know someone who might be interested, please email Peter Ryan firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
First term of 2018 starts on 12 February 2018, and theoretically we would take students up to that date. However, if you are thinking of doing this course, please contact us as soon as possible to express your interest.
More about us..
Farewell Gavin Perkins
Many will know that Gavin Perkins and his family are moving to Bowral in January 2018 so that Gavin can begin in his new role as Rector of St Jude's Bowral. This is great news for Bowral, and an exciting change for Gavin. But sadly it means that Gavin will no longer be able to continue as the Course Director of Cornhill Sydney.
Gavin has been instrumental in planting the Cornhill work in Sydney, joining us as our first Course Director in January 2012. He will be sorely missed, but is hoping to help out occasionally as one of our fabulous visiting teachers.
Gavin finishes as Course Director on 24 December, before taking annual leave and starting at Bowral in February.
Welcome Peter Ryan
In God's wonderful providence, we are pleased to announce that Peter Ryan has accepted the invitation to become Cornhill Sydney's next Course Director in January 2018. Peter is passionate about encouraging and training people for ministry, and equipping people to "rightly handle" God's Word of truth.
Peter has been a visiting teacher for the last two terms at Cornhill Sydney. He has been greatly appreciated by this year's students and is one their favourites.
From 2007 to 2008, and from 2014 to 2017, Peter lectured and developed teaching material at the Namibia Evangelical Theological Seminary (NETS), and was involved in the training of NETS staff.
From 2009 to 2013 he was a full-time member of the pastoral ministry team at St David's Forestville.
In 2018, while working part-time for Cornhill, Peter will begin a PhD at Moore College on the rhetorical purpose of Mark's Gospel.
Peter is married and has two children. Before moving into full-time ministry in 2007, Peter trained and worked as a physiotherapist.
Please join us in welcoming Peter to his new role at Cornhill Sydney, and pray for him and our students, to build the work of Cornhill Sydney at it equips people in expository preaching.
